7 Amazing Quad Core Smartphones Till Now

With so many smartphones making their way into the market, both in the budget as well as the high end category the manufactures are looking to add an extra feature or a component that would give it an edge over its competitors.


The manufactures have started concentrating on providing its smartphones with powerful processors. They have now moved on to quad core processors and the companies that are at the head of this movement are HTC, Samsung, Huawei and LG.


Here is a list of seven quad core smartphones that are the most impressive in the market at present.


1. Samsung Galaxy S III


Price: Between 38,000 to 40,000


A list which is based on smartphones running on quad core processor and if we do not mention Samsung Galaxy S III we would be committing a huge mistake. The sales figure of the handset which stands at 10 million is an indicator to how successful the handset has been in the markets world over.


The Galaxy S III has a 4.8 inch has an AMOLED touch screen with a resolution of 720 X 1280 pixels. The smartphone is powered by quad-core 1.4GHz Arm Cortex-A9 backed by 1GB RAM. The phone functions on Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system and is going to get an Jelly Bean update soon. The smartphone comes with an 8 mega pixel and it has an interesting feature of zero shutter lag which allows you to keep taking pictures without any lag time.


Galaxy S III comes in three memory variants 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB along with this the phone also comes with a slot for microSD card that enabled the memory to be expanded up to 64 GB.




2. HTC One X


Price: Between 35,000 to Rs,37,000


The HTC One X has two first to its credits; it is the first quad core powered smartphone in the Indian market as well as the first one from HTC as well.


The smartphone has a 4.7 inch display which comes with a resolution of 1280 X 720 pixels. With such high resolution the phone delivers sharp and clear text and images. The smartphone is powered by a 1.5 GHz quad core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor and backed by 1 GB RAM. One X functions on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. The phone runs on an 1800 mAh battery.


The phone has an 8MP rear camera with single LED flash which does capture brilliant pictures. It also has a 1.3 mega pixel front facing camera which enables video calls.


HTC placed its flagship One X as direct competition to Samsung Galaxy S III and the Apple iPhones.




3. LG Optimus 4X HD


Price: 34,990 Approximately


Optimus 4X HD from LG comes with a powerful quad core processor. In fact this smartphone is LG’s first quad-core smartphone for the Indian market.


The Optimus 4X HD has a 4.7 inch True HD LCD touch screen display with a resolution of 1280x720 pixels. This smartphone functions on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. It is powered by a 1.5 GHz Quad-Core Cortex-A9 processor with Nvidia Tegra 3 chipset and backed by 1 GB of RAM. The phone has an 8 mega pixel rear camera and a 1.3 mega pixel front facing camera which enables the user to make video calls.


The smartphone comes with 16 GB internal memory along with a slot for the microSD card to expand the memory up to 32 GB. It runs on a 2,150 mAh Li-Ion battery which is very powerful.


This device has been pitched in the market as a competition to HTC One X and Samsung Galaxy S III which also feature earlier in the same list.



4. Huawei Ascend D Quad


Price: Between 27,000 to 30,000


The Ascend D Quad smartphone from Huawei is one of the fastest smartphones in the market right now.


It is powered with its own Huawei K3V2 1.5 GHz Quad-Core processor and backed by 1 GB of RAM. The phone functions of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. The phone has a 4.5 inch high resolution capacitive touch screen with a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels. It comes with an 8 mega pixel rear camera and a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera. The handset comes with an 8 GB internal memory and a microSD slot with which the the memory can be expanded up to 32 GB.


Listening to music and watching videos on this phone is indeed pleasurable because it it comes with Dolby Mobile 3.0 Plus sound enhancement. Huawei has equipped its quad core smartphone with an 1800 mAh battery.




5. LG Optimus G


Price: Not Yet Disclosed by the Company


The Korean multinational electronics company, LG has come out with a smartphone that will be powered by a quad core Snapdragon S4 Pro Processor which is manufactured by Qualcomm. The smartphone comes with a 4.7 inch Tru HD IPS + touch screen with an impressive screen resolution of 1280 X 768 pixels. With the Tru HD IPS+ display LG claims that the device will use up to 70 per cent less power than normal smartphones with LCD display.


Optimus G runs on Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. The manufactures have a piece of good news; the operating system will soon be upgraded to Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean. The device comes with 13 mega pixel camera which LED flash. The smartphone is powered by a 2,100 mAh battery.


The Phone will be in the markets in September 2012. The price of this smartphone is yet to be made public but according to experts Optimus G will be more expensive than Optimus 4X HD which is priced at 34,990 approximately.





6. Samsung Galaxy Note II


Price: Not Yet Disclosed by the Company


Samsung Galaxy Note II is the latest smartphone from the company and is powered by a 1.6 GHz quad core CPU and is backed by 2 GB RAM. The Note has a 5.5 inch Super AMOLED HD display touch screen and will function on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system. The Note comes with a 9 mega pixel rear camera and a 1.9 mega pixel front facing camera that will allows the user to make video calls. The device also comes with an improved S Pen which has been redesigned in such a way that it lends itself perfectly for writing and drawing on the screen.


Apart from the usual features the Note comes with interesting new features like the “Air View feature’ which allows the user to let the S Pen to linger over an email, image, video or the S Planner to see the content of the same without actually having to open it. Along with this feature it also comes with “Idea Visualizer” which gives the user the opportunity to add illustrations by just feeding in keywords on the Note.  The device will be available in three memory options; 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB.


To support all the functions and features that come along with the device it is powered by a powerful 3,100 mAh battery.




7. ZTE Era


Price: Not Yet Disclosed by the Company


ZTE Era is one of the thinnest smartphones market has seem so far. It is just 7.8 mm thick. It is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad core Tegra 3 processor backed by 1 GB RAM. The phone has a 4.3 inch TFT capacitive touch screen with a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels which is slightly on the lower side.


The smartphone comes with an internal memory of 8 GB along with a slot for microSD slot which enables the user to expand the memory up to 32 GB. ZTE Era functions on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.  The phone has an 8 mega pixel rear camera which gives you some pretty good pictures.


The gadget will be out in the market pretty soon. So as of now apart from these specifications nothing is known about the price or the exact date when it would be launched in the world markets.
